Welcome!

Howdy folks! Thanks for stopping by. Original Pure Water, LLC is the new kid on the block, but we have a lot of experience with the most important and essential part of all life – water! All of man, plants or animals cannot live without it. Water indeed is the liquid of life! We let Mother Nature provide water for animals and plants, but when it comes to the water we consume, we want the best!

Unfortunately, our water is not what is used to be. Pollution, chemicals, dirt and other contaminants are just a few reasons why people around the world have taken a second look at the water available to them before consuming it. As a result, all of us have decided to take control of the quality of the water we drink or use into our own hands. That may mean additional treatment, such as filtration, purification or other measures, like buying bottled water to insure we are drinking and consuming the best water we can!

Our water quality affects our every day living regarding our homes and where we work. Poor water quality can cause scaling, corrosion, heavy mineral deposits and staining which can make life miserable while dealing with these issues. Not to mention bad tastes and odors on a daily basis if we have bad water.

Why Choose Us?

Well, that’s where Original Pure Water comes in! We have an expertise in water filtration and purification, and our mission is to help you have and enjoy great tasting, quality water for your home and place of work. What truly makes us different than the other guys in this field is our Service. Folks, there are a lot of companies out there that do what we do, but Service is king, and we do it the best! Plus, we care, and you’re not just a number with us.

Of course, it’d be nice to know who we are, so here’s a little background. We are located near historic downtown Charlestown, Indiana, about a half hour north of Louisville, Kentucky, and a few minutes from the Ohio River. Charlestown was founded in 1808, and named after one of it’s surveyors, Charles Beggs. The original 3 acres set aside for the town square is still the centerpiece of the town today. Original Pure Water is located at 921 Market Street, which is on the main boulevard that runs parallel to the town square. Our office is in the same building as the NAPA Auto Parts dealership, and our color scheme is an eye catching blue and yellow- easy to see, you can’t miss us!

The owners are Kirkman and Amanda Jackson who are residents of Charlestown. Kirkman has over 30 plus years experience in the water business. Prior to moving to Charlestown, he owned and operated a bottled water / water filtration company based in Many, Lousiana (about an hour south of Shreveport, La). He operated the company when it started in 1990, and bought it in 1993. It grew to 5 counties ( or parishes as they are called in Louisiana) , and became a well recognized brand in the region. He sold the business in January 2021. Amanda, his wife, was born and raised in New Albany, Indiana. She has over 11 plus years experience with the mortgage, title deed, mortgage lending and real estate businesses. She’s also been a Nurse in the medical field. In case you can’t tell, we’re a good ol’ fashioned mom and pop business, but knowledgeable and professional enough to deliver the goods!

All about water and how we fix it!

Okay, now you know where we are, what we do and who we are. Here’s a quick, simple and easy lesson on different water types and treatments. For consumption, generally, there are two types of water out there: spring water and drinking water. Spring water is just what it says: it’s water, from a spring, usually carbon filtered (carbon takes out most chemicals and leaves most minerals), and has a certain taste due to the mineral content. Drinking water is water that comes from various sources (municipal systems, wells, springs, etc) that has been filtered or purified to remove sediment, chemicals, tastes and odors, and total dissolved salts and solids, or TDS’s. TDS’s are salts, minerals, organic and inorganic matter, etc. As it stands, approximately 64% of bottled water sold is purified water and 36% is spring water. (By the way, part of our business is to help you get away from buying so much bottled water).

Folks, there is a BIG difference between filtered and purified water. Filtered water has run through a basic media, such as simple filters and carbon. Although some contaminants have been removed, it still may have a taste due to mineral content and TDS’s. Purified water, however, has been produced by a process called Reverse Osmosis, (or RO), which gives you the purest water you can drink without going to distilled water (most of us don’t like distilled, as it has a flat, kind of lifeless taste to it). Reverse Osmosis (RO) water, known for its consistent purity, removes 99.9% of TDS’s, but leaves a few trace minerals in the water to give it a little ‘body’ for a light, refreshing taste. To be honest, once you start drinking purified RO water, you don’t want anything else, because you can taste everything! And for coffee or tea drinkers, consider this: most people think if you get a bad cup of coffee or glass of tea, it’s the coffee bean or tea leaf, but that’s not always true: it could be the water! And brewed coffee or tea will stay fresh longer and taste better if prepared with purified water. Again, filtered and purified are two different things.

Original Pure Water, LLC is pleased and proud to offer two products: Reverse Osmosis Systems for Drinking Water, and Whole Home / Office Water Filtration Systems. We also do Water Testing. Since most people are concerned about the water they drink first, let’s start there. Our Auto-Fill Water Coolers are simply wonderful and super convenient. They are very similar to 5 gallon bottled water coolers, but without the bottle (those big bottles of water weigh 40lbs each, kinda heavy!). Instead, the cooler is self-filling with Purified Reverse Osmosis water, the purest water you can drink. The cooler produces cold and room temperature water, and we have a hot water model if desired, which is great for instant coffee, tea, and instant oatmeal. These systems are available for a one time installation cost and a very low monthly fee, which includes one or two scheduled filter changes a year. Also included with the monthly charge is service, repair, upgrades or replacement as needed. All you do is use it and enjoy it! We also sell and install the Reverse Osmosis systems and carry the cartridges needed if you want to do it yourself. And we stock the necessary parts for repairs.

Now that you’re covered for drinking and cooking water, let’s look at Whole Home Filter and Softeners. How many times has someone in your household complained about the awful odor or dirty color of the water? Or the ruined laundry, stained by dirt or mineral deposits? Hot water heaters and nice faucets or fixtures all damaged by hard, unfiltered water? In addition, coffee and tea makers, ice machines and washing machines can go bad and need repair or replacement because of poor water quality. Believe it or not, even bad hair days can be traced back to the water we wash with!

Types of water treatment

There are basically 2 types of whole home / office water treatments: filters and softeners. A water filter does just what is says: it filters out matter such as dirt, sediment, tastes and odors. Even fair water sooner or later will have these things in it, as well as chlorine and chemicals. Our Whole Home Carbon filters use a Prefilter, which is changed 2 to 4 times a year or less, to catch heavy dirt or sediment. Then the water is passed through Granular Activated Carbon (GAC); this is used across the board throughout this industry around the world and removes removes a long list of chemicals, organic matter, and many other contaminants. You can expect with carbon filtered water to have a better experience overall for your water needs.

The other type of treatment is a Water Softener. Let’s be clear, a water softener is NOT a water filter. This is the difference: a lot of water is this part of the country is very hard. As a result, a water softener is needed to take out the hardness, technically called calcium carbonate and magnesium, which a traditional filter can’t remove. Hard water can wreak havoc on our possessions and appliances, as mentioned earlier. In addition, it can leave spotting and scaling in our showers, tubs and sinks, which requires more aggressive cleaning and chemicals to remove. Then there’s brittle hair, and clothing and towels which don’t last as long. The list goes on and on. Thankfully, a water softener produces the opposite! All the hard minerals are removed from the water, and as a result, everything lasts longer, performs better, cleans easier. Hot water heaters, ice makers, dishwashers, faucets and fixtures will have a longer life and work better. Tubs and showers won’t spot and will clean easier. You won’t have to use as much soap or chemicals, and your laundry stays fresher, longer. Even bad hair days seem to go away! We carry both water filters and softeners for all your whole home or office needs.
